Open Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with MIA+BSI. Open volunteering opportunities are still available and will be present year-round. We encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to get involved!

  • Commercial Education Subcommittee
    Emphasis: Increase number of educational offerings regarding commercial stone applications.

  • Technical Bulletins Subcommittee
    Emphasis: Contribute to a new series of technical bulletins to be issued in 2010.

  • International Membership Subcommittee
    Emphasis: Increase number of International Members (goal of 5 new members by each committee member).

  • MIA+BSI Ambassador Program
    Recommend an industry colleague for membership through the MIA+BSI Ambassador Program.

  • Stone Glossary Education Subcommittee
    Emphasis: Creation of a new Natural Stone Dictionary/Reference Guide.

  • Care & Cleaning Education Subcommittee
    Emphasis: Revise the MIA+BSI Care & Cleaning brochure.

  • CEU Education Subcommittee
    Emphasis: Expand the MIA+BSI CEU program to include members of NKBA, CSI, and other stakeholders.

  • Countertop Technical/Education Subcommittee
    Emphasis: Propose changes to the MIA+BSI Residential Countertop Technical Standards.

  • 2010 DSDM Technical SubCommittee
    Emphasis: Update MIA+BSI Restoration & Maintenance Standards.

  • Consumer Education Subcommittee
    Emphasis: Enhance consumer information at the MIA+BSI's consumer website and outreach to member firms for information.

  • Awards Committee
    Emphasis: Enhance the various MIA+BSI awards programs

MIA+BSI and Stone World are also looking for individuals to serve on a variety of 2010 Regional Education committees. 10-15 person host committees are being assembled for the following cities. If you live within 200 miles, get involved by helping us plan outstanding regional seminars in your area.

 MIA+BSI Boards of Directors
The MIA+BSI is governed by a 13 person boards of directors. Calls for nominations for the boards are made in the spring of each year and nominations are made by MIA+BSI Nomination Committee, chaired by the immediate past president.

Accreditation Commission
Calls for nomination to this 11 person committee are made in the spring of each year. This committee champions the MIA+BSI's accreditation program. The MIA+BSI Board of Directors appoints this committee during its meeting, held in conjunction with StonExpo.

Education Committee
Calls for nomination to this 7 person committee are made in the spring of each year. This committee champions the MIA+BSI's regional education, CEU, trade show education, consumer education, and new publication development programs. The MIA+BSI Board of Directors appoints this committee during its meeting, held in conjunction with StonExpo. Several subcommittee opportunities exist — see open volunteer opportunities.

Membership Committee
Calls for nomination to this 7 person committee are made in the spring of each year. This committee champions the MIA+BSI's membership recruitment, retention, and outreach programs. The MIA+BSI Board of Directors appoints this committee during its meeting, held in conjunction with StonExpo. Several subcommittee opportunities exist — see open volunteer opportunities.
