MIA and OSHA to Stage Safety Seminar in Boston Area
On Site Inspection Promises to Impress Attendees
CLEVELAND, OH, MARCH 12, 2008 The Marble Institute of America and the Boston OSHA Regional Office will present a day-long stone shop safety seminar in Woburn, MA (Boston) on April 17, 2008.
"This seminar is designed to help enhance natural stone shop safety programs and safety awareness. Attendees will benefit from the combined knowledge and expertise resulting from the recently renewed Alliance between MIA & OSHA," stated Gary Distelhorst, executive vice president of the 2,000-plus member MIA.
Highlighting this seminar will be a mock inspection of an operating fabrication shop by an actual OSHA official. Some of the more common violations will be "found" and explained during the visit. Attendees will see first hand the process that inspectors use when visiting fabrication shops.
Other topics will include these important safety and health matters:
- Silica Exposure in the Stone Industry
- OSHA Programs and Resources
- Slab Handling & Other Safety Hazards
- Free Consultation Services for Employers
- Developing a Safety & Health Program
- How to Prepare for an OSHA inspection
Participants will receive the MIA safety handbook, Safety in the Stone Business, 3 safety videos and safety related handouts from both OSHA and the MIA valued in excess of $200.00. Cost to attend this seminar is only $20.00 per attendee. The MIA says space is limited and encourages early reservations.
