MIA OFFERS SIX POWERFUL NEW SAFETY POSTERS

CLEVELAND, OH., OCTOBER 13, 2005— As part of an aggressive safety initiative for the natural stone industry, the Marble Institute of America (MIA) is introducing a powerful series of safety posters designed especially for stone fabrication shops, distributors, and others in the industry.

The hard-hitting posters focus on wearing hard hats, slab handling, wearing proper dust protection, saw safety, drug and alcohol in the workplace and the "10 Commandments of Stone Shop Safety."

All carry the theme line: Stone shop safety. It should be set in stone.

"There is no more critical issue facing the natural stone industry than safety," said Gary Distelhorst, executive vice president of MIA, which has more than 1400 members around the world. "These specially-designed posters take a proactive approach to safety in the workplace. They are all one-of-a-kind designs intended to attract the attention of stone industry workers," he said.

MIA's approach to safety also includes the production of a number of safety training videos, as well as a variety offering books that address various aspects of safety in the workplace.

The unique, colorful, and hard-hitting six posters, each measuring 22" x 28" are being offered in as a set for $150 ($90 for MIA Members).
