Fourteen projects were honored by the Marble Institute of America through its annual Pinnacle Awards competition.

Cleveland, OH, November 4, 2009 — the Marble Institute of America (MIA) has announced the winners of its prestigious 2009 Pinnacle Awards competition as well as the winner of the Grande Pinnacle Award, sponsored by Marmomacc.

The 'W' Hotel in South Beach, Florida, submitted by Italbec U.S., Dania Beach, Florida, was honored with the Grande Pinnacle Award. The award was presented to Rick Watson and Fiore Vadacchino by Mauro Albano, manager of the Marmomacc Trade Show. Italbec U.S. supplied and installed over 400,000 square feet and $14.5 million worth of eight different natural stones at this new luxury hotel on Miami's South Beach.

A panel of four judges from Italy and the U.S. called the 'W' Hotel "a showroom of the use of stone and its varied patterns, colorations and textures."

Italbec U.S. received a magnificently crafted Grande Pinnacle Award designed by Tobia Scarpa of Venice, Italy.
